Most, if not all, commercial Sub-Zero refrigerators have dual independent systems. The freezer side has its own separate cooling system, independent of the refrigerator side.
One of the most common issues is failure of the heat exchanger on the refrigerator side. This problem is often identified by a large ice ball forming on the left-middle section of the back wall.
Although this repair can be costly, replacing the entire unit is usually even more expensive.
Models in the 500 and 600 series can often be saved as long as they use R-134a refrigerant. If your Sub-Zero still uses R-12, the unit will need to be replaced.
Other common issues include condenser fan motor failure, evaporator fan motor failure, ice maker problems, and temperature control issues.
